Surprise! The snow was really dumping down in parts of the Greater Boston area Saturday morning.
Heavy bands of snow hit the North Shore in places — nearly a foot fell in Marblehead and Beverly before 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service’s snowfall reports.
But the heavy snowfall, at least so far, didn’t stretch to Boston, which only had an inch of the white stuff early on in the day.
