Boston man sentenced in fatal shooting of teen

A Boston man was sentenced to more than a decade in prison in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager in Mattapan.

Kamal Oliver, a 23-year-old Mattapan resident, was sentenced to 16 to 20 years in state prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter on Feb. 4, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

In August 2022, Oliver engaged in an argument with 19-year-old Xavier Barkon while Barkon sat in the passenger seat of a parked car on Oak Hill Avenue in Mattapan. Oliver shot Barkon once in the chest, then got in his own vehicle and left the scene, according to prosecutors…
