City Of Boston Looks To Build Farm In Mattapan To Address Food Insecurity

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — There’s a discussion about potentially building a new farm in Boston.

The City of Boston is researching new ways to combat food insecurity. The idea would be to grow crops at the Boston Public Health Commission’s Mattapan Heights campus for the community. Shani Fletcher, the director of the city’s Office of Urban Agriculture, says she is very hopeful about what’s on the horizon.

“We are in early stages, but we’re really optimistic that this is going to be a project that will increase food security in Mattapan and the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Fletcher…
