Massive snow storm puts Everett schools on hold for two days

The hallways buzzed with conversations about the alleged snow storm that was supposed to happen later in the week, how school might be canceled, and how we might get 2 full days off of school. Then, waking up the morning of January 25, you look out your window to see an abundance of snow on the ground and still falling. You got excited knowing that this means school will get canceled and you can sleep in. Two days passed and although you enjoyed sleeping, you probably also got bored of being home and waiting until school started again, but wondering when the streets are getting cleaned up in time for the school day tomorrow. This is what most were thinking on January 27.

Everett got at least 20 inches of snow in those two days. We haven’t had as much snow as that since 2022.

When it was time for students to come back to Everett High it was a struggle to get to school to say the least. Kids were walking on the road because the sidewalks were covered with inches of snow. Car rides took way longer than normal for most people because of the non-shoveled roads, or problems with other cars on the road because of the conditions of the road. Kids falling because of not being able to walk on the sidewalk without stepping in inches of snow…
