Beloved Somerville Coyote Statue Vanishes From Family Yard

SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A beloved neighborhood statue in Somerville was taken overnight this weekend, and now the owner wants help finding it.

Joker Tony the coyote statue lives at the Contini-Field home on Summer Street, where the family dresses him up in different costumes based on the time of year. Aili Contini-Field bought it on a whim five years ago as a present to herself.

“I know people get a cement goose to dress up,” Contini-Field told WBZ NewsRadio. “I’m like ‘no, I’m going to get a coyote’,” he said. The statue has become a sort of local landmark, making it on to the Somerville Sights map. “Joker Tony” got his name based on the robo-calls from the City of Somerville during the pandemic, based on a mishearing of then-Mayor Joe Curtatone’s name…
