The big thaw continues for another day on this Saturday. Temperatures reach the 40s to around 50 degrees with plenty of sunshine. Again, we refreeze tonight as temps dip to below freezing, in the teens and 20s in the suburbs. A cold front approaches from the northwest, and this brings us a mix to snow showers for Sunday.
Hour-by-hour timing:
The temperatures sneak to near freezing for mid morning in Boston and across the Cape, so initially those areas see a wintry mix, while in the Berkshires and Worcester Hills snow showers move in by sunrise and last through midday.
The mix changes to light snow for Boston to the Cape by the afternoon and colder air returns from the north. The snow remains light, with the highest snow rates showing up across interior Connecticut and perhaps central Massachusetts up to 1/2 an inch per hour.
The snow moves out by early evening (though some flurries remain) Sunday. Arctic air returns for a short period of time Monday, with highs back in the 20s.

The cold snap on Monday doesn’t last long! Our Jetstream also changes around, lifting to the north of New England. This allows milder air to fill in for next week…
