Two buildings damaged, firefighter injured battling Boston fire

Heavy smoke could be seen pouring from a large building in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood on Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. on Wilmore Street. Video shared by the Boston Fire Department on social media showed plumes of black smoke coming from the top of the building.

Aerial images showed that the top rear of the building was severely damaged in the fire, with a large chunk of the building missing. Several holes could be seen in the roof and firefighters were continuing to douse the flames with water.

Boston Fire Commissioner Paul Burke said the first responding firefighters encountered heavy fire in the back of the building on the second and third floors, with strong winds blowing the flames back into the building…
