Providence-bound MBTA train derails near South Station

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Several commuter rail trains are experiencing delays to and from South Station in Boston after a Providence-bound car derailed Friday afternoon.

Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority officials said all trains scheduled to arrive and depart from South Station should expect delays of up to 30 minutes and possible cancellations “due to an earlier train’s slow-speed single coach derailment” in the area.

A spokesperson for MBTA-operator Keolis told 12 News that Providence Line Train 851 derailed between South Station and Back Bay. Approximately 350 passengers onboard were escorted off and back to the station. No injuries have been reported…
