Prepare for snow in 8 Massachusetts counties around 2 a.m. Monday

A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Sunday at 8:46 p.m. for snow beginning at 2:15 a.m. Monday for Worcester, Middlesex, Hampshire, Hampden, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bristol and Plymouth counties.

“Ongoing areas of rain are expected to change to a slushy wintry mix of sleet and snow between 2 to 4 a.m. Monday, and then taper off between 9 to 11 a.m. Monday. Total snow and sleet accumulations of a coating to 2 inches are anticipated, primarily on grassy non-paved surfaces. It is possible that embedded heavier precipitation bands could lead to slushy accumulations on pavement, which would impact travelers during the Monday morning commute. This wintry precipitation should be mainly focused within about 20 miles either side of the Massachusetts Turnpike, but could extend as far south as the Hartford to Providence corridor.
