Boston – A fast-moving and intense police response unfolded Thursday afternoon in Roxbury after gunfire erupted in broad daylight, ultimately leading to multiple arrests, the recovery of firearms, and a barricaded suspect situation that required SWAT intervention.
At approximately 1:03 p.m. on April 2, 2026, a sergeant assigned to District D-4 (South End) was stopped at a red light near the intersection of Dearborn Street and Dudley Street when multiple gunshots rang out. The sergeant observed a suspect fleeing toward a vehicle, which then sped off in the direction of Melnea Cass Boulevard.
A description of the suspect vehicle was immediately broadcast over police radio, allowing officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) to quickly locate the vehicle along the Massachusetts Avenue connector.
