A mid-morning patrol in one of Boston’s most closely watched corridors led to a drug arrest after officers said they witnessed a suspected street-level transaction unfold in real time. The incident, which occurred Thursday in New Market Square, resulted in the recovery of multiple individually packaged bags of crack cocaine and cash.
BOSTON, MA – Around 10:20 a.m. Thursday, officers assigned to the citywide Neighborhood Engagement Safety Team (NEST) were operating in New Market Square as part of an ongoing initiative targeting quality of life issues in the area. During their patrol, officers observed a man remove an item from his rear pocket and hand it to two individuals, prompting further surveillance.
