Going above and beyond: Innovive Health nurses brave winter storm to help patients

There are many who go the extra mile in their jobs, but what about in a snowmobile? That’s what Medford, MA-based Innovive Health nurses Caroline Manzone and William Doherty did to serve their patients when a blizzard struck the Northeast at the end of February.

The urgency of their efforts mirrors the urgency of their patients, many of whom have multiple medical comorbidities with complicating behavioral illnesses, said Michelle Haskins, vice president of clinical services at behavioral home health firm Innovive Health.

“Many times our nurses are the only people that these patients see,” Haskins told McKnight’s Home Care Daily Pulse. “It’s so important that our nurses get out in a blizzard because we need to make sure that they have what they need, that they have food and electricity, and if not, that they understand what to do to help keep themselves safe.”…
