Boston Police Capt. Michael McCarthy appeared at several civic groups this week, including Columbia Savin Hill Civic Association on Monday above, to introduce himself as the new commander of the Area C-11 district.
He replaces Capt. Steven Sweeney, who retired last month after 31 years in the department and signed on with the Boston Red Sox as director of Security and Emergency Services for the club.
McCarthy noted that he has been the lieutenant detective at C-11 for the past seven years ands that he started his career 31 years ago as a cadet in the C-11 district. “It’s really coming full circle for me,” he said.”…
