A Massachusetts man was rescued Monday after getting lost while hiking in the White Mountains during a snowstorm, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
North Reading resident Jonathan Gullotti, 56, started hiking at the Glen Boulder Trailhead in Jackson, New Hampshire, around 8:45 a.m., conservation officers said in a press release. A snowstorm moved into the area during the day, causing him to deviate from his planned path while trying to escape the high winds and heavy snow.
Gullotti eventually realized he was lost and called for assistance shortly before 6:15 p.m., conservation officers said.
