Colorado’s arid climate is dry on the land and the skin (People and Plants)

Even though we have finally received some precipitation recently, we are still bordering between extreme and severe drought in our area.

The Colorado Front Range has a semi-arid climate. This results in water scarcity, erosion, salinity issues and soils with low organic matter. (bit.ly/43BrwKi) Broomfield, in particular, averages only fifteen inches of precipitation annually. (bit.ly/49xLGIO)

Moving here from a state filled with hair-frizzing high humidity and ample rain was eye-opening to say the least. I had to quickly learn how to garden in a dry climate. I also had to learn how to not turn into a prune. The lack of humidity, as well as the normal aging process, can be very drying to some individuals.
