Good Life Refuge to Host Free Mental Health-Focused Community Event

Good Life Refuge will host a free Embodiment & Community Day on June 20, offering community members an afternoon of movement, mindfulness, and connection with rescued farm animals.

The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at Good Life Refuge in Longmont. Organizers say the program is designed to support mental well-being through somatic movement, meditation, self-defense awareness and time spent in a sanctuary setting.

“Movement, mindfulness, and connection are not luxuries — they are essential tools for mental health,” said Nicole Brecht, founder of Good Life Refuge. “We created this day to give people a space to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience the healing that happens when we are in community with both humans and animals.”

The event comes as mental health remains a national focus and as mindfulness-based practices continue to gain attention for their potential role in stress reduction and trauma recovery.

The program will include a self-defense and awareness session led by Sensei Casey of Quest Self Defense in Longmont, a fifth-degree black belt with more than 25 years of martial arts experience. Rt. Reverend Stacia Synnestvedt of Wooversity will lead a guided meditation focused on reflection and grounding.
