Denver police issue fraud caution after sextortion scam

DENVER (KDVR) – A sextortion incident reportedly led to a victim nearly being defrauded of $1,500 after a suspect threatened to release images, prompting police warnings.

The Denver Police Department reported that an officer responded to a fraud report on June 18 on North Logan Street, with a victim reporting they met somebody online earlier in the week.

The victim reportedly told officers they had communicated through text messages, which became personal, prompting them to send private photos in exchange for photos as well…
