DENVER (KDVR) — A four-legged Westminster police officer is being celebrated for his 7-year career, which was filled with numerous deployments and a prestigious honor.
According to a release, K-9 Tom is retiring after seven years of “chasing bad guys.”

Tom joined the force in 2019, partnering with Officer Johnson, and he was deployed well over 100 times. The Dutch Shepherd was certified in patrol, tracking and narcotics detection.
Tom’s stats, according to the release, speak for themselves:
- 167 patrol deployments
- 51 narcotic deployments
- 41 surrenders
- 14 physical apprehensions
Perhaps one of the biggest pieces of Tom’s career was when he and Johnson were honored with the Colorado Police Canine Association Patrol Case of the Year in 2022.
“Now 9 years old, Tom has officially traded in patrol shifts for plenty of well-earned relaxation,” the post said. “Thank you, Tom, for your years of loyal service to our community. We will miss you out on the road!”…
