Woman injured while cycling on U.S. 36 Bikeway near Louisville

A woman was significantly injured while cycling near buckling pavement on the U.S. 36 Bikeway near Louisville on Tuesday, officials said.

The woman, 73, crashed around 7 p.m. and was taken to a hospital to treat her injuries, according to Boulder County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carrie Haverfield. She crashed while riding on the hill toward Denver between Boulder and Louisville, Boulder County Public Works spokesperson Andrew Barth said.

Concrete slabs were buckling in the area of her crash, causing a bump in the path, according to Barth. The Sheriff’s Office did not determine a cause of her crash, though Barth said his understanding was that the 73-year-old crashed because of the buckling slabs…
