DENVER (KDVR) — The City of Boulder says that the swim beach at the Boulder Reservoir will be temporarily closed due to potentially harmful algae blooms in the water.

According to a release, city staff observed what could be harmful algae blooming in areas throughout the reservoir, and that officials collected samples for testing.
City staff will monitor algae bloom tests overnight with more updates available on Sunday; however, for the time being, the swim beach is closed and visitors are urged to keep their dogs out of the water.
The reservoir is still open for watercraft through the main gate, but users should avoid any contact with the water, especially in areas that may look inhabited by potentially harmful algae until it subsides. The blooms could look like some of the following:…
