BOULDER, CO — Extreme heat is hitting harder and more often across the United States, and a University of Colorado Boulder researcher says many cities are still playing catch-up.
Denver logged 28 days at 90 degrees or higher in July, while Boulder could see far more 95-degree days by 2030 if warming trends continue.
What the latest research says about the threat
Sara Meerow, an associate professor in geography, said heat is the deadliest climate-related hazard and kills more people in the U.S. than hurricanes, floods and tornadoes combined.
