A man who was shot at by a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy after authorities say he fled from a traffic stop has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to go to trial.
Investigators say a deputy attempted to stop Matthew Wright, now 35, who was driving near Grand Market Avenue and TPC Parkway in Berthoud, about 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 16, but Wright reportedly refused to stop, according to a previous news release from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy performed a PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver on Colorado Highway 60 just east of Interstate 25 to stop Wright.
The sheriff’s office said Wright then accelerated towards the deputy, and the deputy fired his weapon. Wright was not struck by gunfire, but he was minorly injured in the PIT maneuver and was taken to the hospital, according to a Fort Collins Police Services news release…
