The process for selecting a new flag for the City of Longmont is still underway, with three final redesign options expected to be announced late this month or early next. The flag redesign has been in discussion since January, when the Longmont City Council began to compile background on the current flag and estimate costs tied to updating the city’s visual branding.
The city’s Art in Public Places (AIPP) program, which expands the city’s permanent art collection in civic spaces, is spearheading the redesign process. Angela Brill, a spokesperson for AIPP, said that the program is currently working on getting three semi-finalist designers under contract and letting other applicants know they will not be moving forward. The three finalist designs will be announced to the public in the coming weeks.
