The former Boulder County Sheriff’s deputy arrested on charges that he punched his wife and pushed her into their Longmont garage in January took a plea deal and was sentenced to 18 months’ probation.
Peter Carlos Markusen, 41, pleaded guilty Sept. 14 to one count of violating a domestic violence protection order, according to Boulder County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Shannon Carbone. That count was charged in a separate case filed against Markusen, but his guilty plea was part of the deal that resolved both cases, Carbone wrote in an email.
The three charges filed in the January case — one count of harassment by striking, shoving or kicking; one count of third-degree assault by recklessly causing injury; and one count of knowing or reckless child abuse — were dismissed as part of the plea deal, court records show…
