Despite making progress toward more affordable housing in the city, Broomfield still has a shortage of income-restricted units, according to meeting information about a draft housing needs assessment from a research company.
In a mid-September meeting, the Broomfield City Council heard an update about the current draft of the city’s upcoming housing needs assessment, planned to be used as guidance for the city’s continued work toward creating more income-restricted housing.
“Your market is not providing sufficient units for renters at less than 50% AMI, and on the for-sale side, it’s not providing sufficient units particularly for entry-level ownership households or folks (making) below 120% AMI,” Mollie Fitzpatrick with Root Policy Research, the firm behind the draft assessment, said in the meeting…
