Former deputy charged with attempted first-degree murder

Attempted first-degree murder was among 10 felony counts filed by Boulder County prosecutors Tuesday against Tyler Boyd Reilly, a former sheriff’s deputy accused of firing at the Broomfield Police Department and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, where he previously worked.

The 40-year-old former deputy was arrested outside the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office headquarters in the early morning hours of Sept. 28 after allegedly firing at the entrance with an AR-15-style rifle. He also made a stop at the Broomfield Police Department that day, where he allegedly shot several police vehicles, causing an estimated $200,000 in damage.

Reilly appeared in court virtually from the Jefferson County Jail on Tuesday.

He is currently being held on a $5 million cash bond set by District Judge David Anthony Archuleta during a Sept. 29 hearing, which Reilly also attended virtually from the jail…
