Student arrested after stabbing at Brighton High School

DENVER (KDVR) — A student at Brighton High School was arrested, processed and released Friday after a stabbing that injured another student at the school.

Around 10:30 a.m., a school resource officer requested emergency medical assistance for a student with a “significant injury to their leg,” according to a release from the Brighton Police Department .

Police said the student who was stabbed was taken to the hospital and treated. The victim’s status was unknown, but police said the injuries were non-life-threatening.

During the initial investigation, the suspect student was taken into custody at the school. Police said the student was processed and released pending charges.

The investigation was ongoing, and police said officers were investigating where the knife came from and what led to the stabbing.
