DENVER (KDVR) — A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for high-elevation areas of Jackson, Grand, Larimer, Boulder, Gilpin and Park counties starting Friday afternoon through late Saturday.
According to the NWS Boulder, the winter storm warning will be in effect from 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, through 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4. The agency is anticipating snow accumulations between 10-18 inches.

The impacted areas include all major passes, Rocky Mountain National Park and mountains in Summit County and the Mosquito, Indian Peaks and Medicine Bow ranges. The agency also said the storm could impact other areas like the Kenosha mountains, Mount Blue Sky and Eisenhower Tunnel.
The winter storm warning is specifically for areas of high elevation. Motorists should be prepared for chain and traction laws to be in effect.
The foothills could see some snow Friday night through Saturday night, the NWS Boulder reported, and the Interstate 25 corridor and plains will see effects from Saturday into Sunday morning.
