Denver Robber’s Getaway Car Stolen Mid-Heist

On the morning of December 16, a group of three armed and masked individuals targeted the Hi Lo Check Cashing business on Monaco Street, aiming to execute what appeared to be a planned robbery. However, their plan quickly unraveled when they stepped outside to find their escape vehicle mysteriously missing. The culprits were caught off-guard by an opportunistic thief who decided to take advantage of the unattended car. Surveillance footage captured the moment, showcasing an unexpected and ironic twist to the crime that left the robbers stranded.

The Commerce City Police Department, responding to the situation, managed to arrest two teenage suspects, ages 14 and 15, leaving the third suspect at large. The apprehended suspects were found with loaded firearms, including a shotgun and a handgun, adding a serious note to what might otherwise be seen as a farcical series of events. The police have yet to determine official charges for the young suspects.

Further adding to the narrative’s complexity, it was revealed that the stolen getaway car, believed to be a Kia, was itself previously stolen. This layer of crime upon crime highlights the unpredictable nature of illegal activities and the inherent risks criminals face from their own kind. The woman who stole the robbers’ car is facing motor vehicle theft charges, although details about her identity and the circumstances of her theft remain under investigation.
