The University of Colorado Law School has seen many of its alumni find their life partners while pursuing their legal education. In light of Valentine’s Day, the university has shared some of these stories.

Tonya Luna ’13 and Gavin Wolny ’13 first met during orientation in August 2010. They became friends and started dating in their third year of law school. In 2014, they moved to Pueblo, CO, got married, and now have two daughters. Gavin is employed at the Pueblo County Attorney’s Office, while Tonya works as a magistrate.

Shelby Dolen ’20 and Bryson Sebold ’20 met during a pre-class camping trip. They experienced the ups and downs of law school together, including the abrupt end to their final year due to the pandemic. They graduated virtually, took the bar exam wearing masks, and began their legal careers in uncertain times. They got engaged in April 2023 and plan to marry in Italy in September 2024.

Jay Trujillo ’20 and Griffin Hay ’20 met at the end of orientation in 2017. They were both in Professor Hall’s section and sat next to each other in most classes. Jay asked Griffin out after class one Friday, suggesting a hike. They started dating and moved in together a few weeks later. They have been together for six years, navigating challenges like the pandemic, the bar exam, and periods of depression and unemployment. They both work for the Office of the State Public Defender in Pueblo and enjoy hiking, cooking, singing, skiing, and traveling in their free time.
