Coach Michael Malone climbs the win ladder, notches 2nd most wins in franchise history

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone continued to climb up the wins ladder Thursday.

With the Nuggets’ 103-97 victory over the Miami Heat, Malone notched his 445th victory with the franchise. This moves him above George Karl (444) and only trails Doug Moe (456) on the win total.

“Great teams find a way to win,” Malone said after the victory against the Heat. The Nuggets have won five games in a row after the All-Star break.

It was the first meeting of the Heat and Nuggets since the NBA finals last year, when Denver beat Miami in five games for their first championship.

Malone, 52, is currently the fourth longest-tenured head coach with the same team in the NBA. He joined the team in 2015. With the Nuggets, his combined regular season and playoff record is 445-320.

The Nuggets will face the Lakers in Los Angeles on Saturday.
