Deion Sanders Makes Life-Changing Announcement Before Colorado Spring Game

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has never been one to avoid making a big announcement in front of an audience, and prior to Colorado’s spring game Saturday he did just that.

When speaking to the Buffs before what was his second spring game as the coach, Sanders awarded walk-on running back Charlie Offerdahl a scholarship. The Littleton, Colorado native has been turning heads this spring camp, with Sanders telling his staff that Offerdahl is the No. 2 running back until he said otherwise. The junior is someone who Sanders has gravitated toward from the moment he took the job, and on Saturday he was finally rewarded for his hard work.

“Let me tell you now there’s a young man that has been working his but off,” said Sanders. “And they tell me he is the spring player of the spring. Even though he’s hurt, he’s that.”

Sanders then called Offerdahl and his family up in front of the whole team to surprise him with the news.

Offerdahl and his family clearly were emotional about the moment, and even Sanders appeared to tear up with joy.
