Suspect ID’d in Colorado trail stabbing case

A suspect as been identified in an alleged stabbing that took place on a trail just west of Boulder, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

The alleged stabbing was reported at about 7:46 a.m. on Wednesday, taking place on Chapman Drive Trail at Tenderfoot Trail, which is located about a mile and a half west of the popular Chautauqua Park.

The male victim reports that he was hiking when he was confronted by a male suspect. Both the victim and suspect reportedly frequent the area, as the victim claims to have interacted with the suspect while on the trail before.

The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife before fleeing to the Realization Point parking lot via Tenderfoot Trail.

A search of the area was conducted by law enforcement, but the suspect had already left the vicinity.

The stabbing victim was seriously injured in the encounter and was transported to a hospital for medical care.

Additional details about the suspect have not been released since identification. The suspect did reportedly have a small dog with him at the time of the alleged stabbing. Additional information isn’t being released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. There is not believed to be a threat to the general public.
