Colorado’s Folsom Field damaged as hit-and-run suspect crashed through gate

In an unusual and chaotic series of events on Thursday night, a 48-year-old man driving a blue pickup truck breached security at Folsom Field, the University of Colorado’s iconic stadium. The driver, identified as Karl E. Haglund from Massachusetts, crashed through a gate and steered his truck onto the football field before surrendering to Boulder police. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, though the spectacle has left a lingering sense of disbelief among fans and officials.

The drama began earlier in the evening when Haglund was reportedly involved in a series of hit-and-run collisions. Eyewitnesses recounted the truck plowing into trees, street signs, and other vehicles, with one witness narrowly avoiding being hit while trying to intervene. Despite efforts from both Boulder and University of Colorado police to stop the reckless driver, Haglund managed to evade authorities, only to later make his bizarre final stop on the 40-yard line of Folsom Field.

Ironically, this chaotic drive onto the Buffaloes’ home turf garnered attention for more than just the reckless stunt itself. Some fans on social media drew comparisons between Haglund’s ability to navigate through multiple obstacles and the Colorado Buffaloes’ lackluster running game under head coach Deion Sanders. Colorado’s rushing attack currently ranks dead last in the nation, averaging a paltry 37.5 yards per game. Haglund’s erratic journey, while dangerous, somehow managed to generate more forward progress than the team’s ground game in recent weeks.
