Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge under secure status

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge is on secure status Friday morning.

FOX31 received multiple tips about an incident and closure of the hospital at around 8:30 a.m. The Wheat Ridge Police Department said a witness reached out to officers about a person with a holstered weapon.

Officers went to the hospital to search and speak with the person and, because of the police presence, the hospital was placed on secure status.

“This is not an active shooter situation,” Wheat Police confirm.

FOX31 received this statement from the hospital:

“Earlier this morning we received a report that a man with a holstered weapon was seen inside Lutheran Hospital. We responded according to our protocols and asked people in the hospital to shelter in place. Access to the hospital is currently restricted. Our emergency department is open for emergencies though. This is not an active threat. Wheat Rodge Police are going to sweep the building,” Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital said.
