Out-of-state driver caught speeding 113 mph on US 36 in Boulder

DENVER ( KDVR ) — An out-of-state driver received a court summons for going nearly double over the speed limit on their way into Boulder.

On Monday morning, the Boulder Police Department shared one driver’s speedy mistake on X to warn others about the consequences of breaking the speed limit.

According to the Boulder Police Department, officers caught an out-of-state driver going 113 mph in a 60 mph zone down U.S. 36 before entering the city near Baseline Road.

Those who have traveled to Boulder before know that after leaving downtown Superior, U.S. 36 crests into a hill. Drivers are then greeted by the stunning view of the Flatirons and the Boulder city limits below before descending the steep hill. The speed down the interstate is 60 mph, but some drivers are caught flying down the two-lane road.

Boulder police said the driver received 12 points on their license for speeding. The driver was also cited for careless driving, which is four points.
