Out-of-state man was driving into Boulder at 113 miles per hour, police say

An out-of-state driver was caught traveling way over the speed limit in Colorado – and now he’ll have to come back to the Centennial State for a court date.

According to the Boulder Police Department, the driver was traveling 113 miles per hour while heading into the city of Boulder on US 36. The speed limit in this area is 60 miles per hour, with the driver nearly doubling that. Law enforcement noted that the specific location where the pullover took place was just before Baseline Road.

The driver was cited for careless driving, as well as speeding. In total, this could mean 16 points on a license, with four of those points related to the careless driving and the remainder due to the excessive speed.

A court date has been set for the driver on October 11, meaning he’ll have to plan a trip back to Colorado on a short timeline.

It’s also worth noting that the excessive speed could mean jail time – driving 25 miles per hour or more over the speed limit can result in a fine up to $300 and up to 90 days in jail. Those penalties are increased if these actions take place in a protected area, such as a construction zone.
