Boulder County Sheriff’s Office assists in rescue of 9-year-old child

Boulder police helped in the search and rescue of a missing nine-year-old autistic child on Oct. 23, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Communications Center got a report of the missing child around 8:57 a.m. on Oct. 23. The child was last seen running from the Mountain Shadows Montessori School, heading into City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks property.

The Boulder Emergency Squad deployed drones for aerial search support, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group provided ground searchers. Search dogs with Front Range Rescue Dogs joined the search to locate the child. Ten personnel from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, including deputies and animal protection officers also responded.

Authorities found the missing child at 10:11 a.m.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office thanked all the agencies and individuals involved for their efforts in the search.
