I-70 westbound closed just east of Eisenhower Tunnel as snow covers roads

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Several Colorado roads were closed on Tuesday for safety concerns while blowing snow caused whiteout conditions in the far Eastern Plains and parts of the mountains.

Tuesday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day for high winds, light snow and blizzard conditions across the far Eastern Plains. Early Tuesday morning, the blowing snow was already causing issues on the roadways, mostly toward the plains.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office reported at 2:50 p.m. a new closure on Interstate 70 westbound just east of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel due to a multi-vehicle crash blocking all westbound lanes.

The sheriff’s office also said two more crashes have occurred in the same area. The interstate’s west lanes are closed in Georgetown due to the crashes…
