Boulder Rec Centers Announce Changes: EBCC Shuts Down for Maintenance, Alternate Arrangements in Place

Boulder’s fitness enthusiasts will need to rejig their workout schedules as Boulder Parks and Recreation announced changes to their annual recreation center shutdowns. The East Boulder Community Center (EBCC) will close its doors for annual maintenance from March 22 through March 30, according to Boulder Parks and Recreation.

Usually paired with Spring Break, this year’s timetable has been altered, with the South Boulder Recreation Center (SBRC) seeing its shutdown shifted to late August, the city needs to tackle pressing facility repairs, the work includes updates to the pool fans, HVAC system, amongst other concerns surfaced in a recent facility needs assessment report. “This work will support our ability to keep South operating as long as we can while we plan for what’s next for recreation in South Boulder through the Future of Recreation Centers project and the city’s Long-Term Financial Strategy,” said Ali Rhodes, BPR Director, as per Boulder Parks and Recreation.

To manage the downtime at EBCC, Boulder Parks and Recreation is implementing alternate arrangements. Spring break camp attendees will now head to the North Boulder Recreation Center (NBRC), elsewhere gym and fitness classes are being rerouted to SBRC when feasible, and swimmers can find additional lanes at both NBRC and SBRC, ensuring residents have ample opportunities for maintaining their fitness regimes, the full updates are available on the BPR’s website…
