In a coordinated effort yesterday, led by the United States Marshals Service’s Colorado Violent Offender Task Force (COVOTF), Amber Michelle O’Neal was apprehended in Edgewater, Colorado. O’Neal, on the lam since a theft at a Target store in Superior, was nabbed after allegedly injuring a Boulder County Sheriff’s deputy during the incident. According to Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy sustained injuries when O’Neal reportedly ran over their foot with a GMC Yukon, the same vehicle identified in her recent arrest.
Law enforcement officials managed to quickly locate O’Neal by foot in the vicinity of West 26th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, swiftly moving to take her into custody. Subsequent to the arrest, she is being charged with Vehicular Eluding, Third-Degree Assault, Reckless Driving, and Driving Under Restraint – Suspended. These charges place her at the heart of the violent encounter with law enforcement where she is alleged to have willfully put a deputy’s well-being at risk to ostensibly evade capture for her alleged crimes.
The task force’s latest operation didn’t conclude at O’Neal’s capture. They also detained Isabella Giese, accompanying O’Neal at the time, on unrelated warrants. Giese’s involvement with the Lone Tree law enforcement pointed to a wider network of individuals with legal troubles.
