Automated traffic enforcement in Longmont set to start on May 29

City workers will start issuing tickets on May 29 for automated speed camera and red light camera violations, according to an online city press release.

In the meantime, drivers who are caught by automated speed and red-light cameras face a 30-day warning period that started Monday, the release said.

City speed and red-light camera spots are in intersections marked with signs to alert drivers. Elected officials approved the enforcement measures in late 2024. Workers can put the automated speed photo enforcement cameras in residential areas, construction zones, school zones and anywhere on Main Street, Pace Street, Ken Pratt Boulevard, Hover Road, Airport Road, 17th Avenue, Mountain View Avenue, 11th Avenue and other nearby streets, the release said.
