Boulder youth homeless shelter suspends its work at The Source

Operations have been suspended for The Source, a 24/7 shelter for people aged 12 to 24 years, according to a press release.

TGTHR, the organization that runs The Source, announced the center’s closure in the press release. Beyond offering rooms for people, The Source also offered drop-in services such as showers, meals, case manager meetings and job search assistance. Street outreach teams for homeless youth also worked out of The Source building. The Source served 234 young people in 2024, spokesperson Alex Bergland said.

The news comes as TGTHR has tried to re-open The Source and Chase House after both were shut down by the Colorado Department of Human Services on April 21. A state audit found administrative errors in how the organization reported its staff background checks. An email to the Daily Camera from a state health department representative “identified concerns with TGTHR’s residential programs, including incomplete or missing background checks for staff, missing training documentation and staff working in positions for which they are not qualified.”…
