Boulder details new safety enhancements after terror attack

DENVER (KDVR) — The city of Boulder announced a comprehensive plan of safety changes after the terror attack that occurred at the Pearl Street Mall on June 1, according to a press release from the city.

The city and the Downtown Boulder Partnership have been working on safety enhancements for the last 18 months, but following the attack, more precautions are being taken. The Boulder Police Department partnered to provide a cleaner, safer and more welcoming environment.

The new plans are centered around a greater police presence in the area, coordination with agency response and a partnership with local, trusted businesses and organizations to help align with community ideas about well-being and economic impact.

“Pearl Street Mall is not just the economic heart of Boulder, but it’s the cultural and civic center of our community. These expanded public safety resources we’ve put in place — coupled with our ongoing investments in downtown infrastructure and programming — ensure Pearl Street continues to be the vibrant core of our city,” said Boulder City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde in the press release…
