Erie police arrest man after Tuesday reports of shots fired in Old Town

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after Erie police were called to an Old Town home on Tuesday on reports of shots being fired.

At 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, police received reports that multiple gunshots had been fired near Kattell and Carr streets and that a man was on a porch holding a rifle, according to a post on X.

Officers arrived, took cover behind their vehicles and made verbal demands, police wrote in the post. Then, a cooperative man appeared and told police there was a home invasion. Police interviewed witnesses and called in the drone and K-9 units, according to the post. During what police called a comprehensive investigation, they found no evidence to support the man’s claim, however, they did find probable cause to arrest him…
