Elk caught on camera walking into downtown Estes Park store

ESTES PARK, Colo. (KDVR) — An elk in Estes Park decided to spend the Fourth of July holiday doing a bit of shopping, walking into a store downtown while dozens of people looked on.

While the sight thrilled many, experts say it’s a good example to remind people to enjoy the animals from a distance. Corwin Laird was working at the cash register inside Rocky Mountain Connection on Friday when the elk walked in.

“It happens in town, haven’t seen it in our store,” said Laird.

It could’ve been looking for shirts, maybe even something with another elk printed on it. No matter what was on its shopping list, people in the store were thrilled…
