The 16th annual Tube to Work Day is this Friday, and hundreds of tubers will hit Boulder Creek in what is now a summer tradition.
Why it matters: The event highlights Boulder’s embrace of sustainable transit and general weirdness. Plus, it’s simply a good time.
If you go: Participants must register online, and there is a 750-tuber limit.
- đď¸ Registration is $22, which covers insurance, first responders and a donation to a local nonprofit that works on homelessness and chronic unemployment, Bridge House.
- đThe event kicks off at 8am Friday at Eben G. Fine Park.
- 𼞠Participants must wear closed-toe shoes, life vests and helmets. They must also bring their own tube, but pumps will be available.
- đ˛ Tubers are encouraged to bike, bus or walk to the park.
Catch up quick: The event started when two friends donned suits to float Boulder Creek in 2008. It’s since grown into one of the city’s signature events…
