Suspect arrested after returning to scene of crash that killed pedestrian in Westminster

DENVER (KDVR) — A man died after he was struck by a vehicle in Westminster early Saturday, with police saying the suspected driver of the vehicle initially fled before returning to the scene hours later — while police were still there.

The Westminster Police Department said it responded to a death investigation near the 8200 block of Sheridan Boulevard just after 6:30 a.m., at which point officers located the victim near the road.

WPD said preliminary evidence showed the man had been struck by a vehicle in what appeared to be a hit-and-run crash.

Just before 9:00 a.m., meanwhile, with officers still on scene investigating, WPD said the suspect, identified as an adult man, returned, at which point he was arrested and his vehicle was located and towed…
