2 accused of firing at driver, fleeing from police into Golden neighborhood

DENVER (KDVR) — Two people are in police custody after they allegedly fired a handgun at another motorist and fled from law enforcement into a Golden neighborhood.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that dispatchers received a 911 call from a motorist at about 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, who said an “erratic” driver had fired a gun at him while they were traveling on U.S. 6 near Tunnel 1.

Deputies were able to find the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. However, the suspect vehicle fled eastbound on U.S. 6 and continued onto southbound Highway 93 in a Golden neighborhood.

Deputies attempted to stop the pursuit by partially blocking the suspect vehicle’s escape route on Heritage Road, causing front-end damage during the act. The suspect vehicle then drove into an apartment complex…
