Mapleton Hill Rummage sale turns Boulder’s yards into treasure troves

A treadmill, a rocking horse, a collection of vintage Nordic ski gear and some naked dolls made out of salt dough: All legitimate finds from a prior Mapleton Hill Rummage Sale.

The annual neighborhood tradition returns from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 23, when more than 60 homes will turn their front yards into pop-up markets, offering everything from antiques and books to baked goods and garden plants.

The rummage sale began in 2004, when Mapleton Hill resident Kelly Wyatt decided to organize a neighborhood-wide day of selling, browsing and mingling. Over the years, she grew it into one of Boulder’s most anticipated summer events, drawing thousands of shoppers and, in its biggest year, more than 70 participating homes. The sale paused only once in its history, during COVID, making 2025 its 20th edition in 21 years…
